This wasn't the way I spent my weekend these days. But today was a little special as I spent a few hours watching my husband and my brother play a gig. I'm not entirely new to this, as we've been musicians performing on different stages for as far as I can remember.
This time I was just in the crowd. My own band is still on break (because, well, life things), so I didn't perform. Instead, I got to just take it all in: the warm-up riffs, the buzz from the audience, the quiet moment before the first note. It reminded me how much I miss being in that world.
One of my sisters came too, to support her former band. Music has always been a part of our family, so it felt natural that we ended up in the same place again.
The event only lasted a couple of hours. Back in the day, we used to just sit around for hours waiting for our bands' turns. Still, it left me feeling recharged. Even if I am not performing right now, being around live music reminded me that it is still part of me.
